Courtney Hammond is a successful business owner, musical prodigy and a bona-fide loner. Born into a wealthy dysfunctional family, where she is the youngest of the three girls. She and the one best friend she has belong to an R&B band they created called the Ultimate Connection. Jeff Gold's life as a rock star has ended, and he is transitioning back into society as the owner of a record store. A self-proclaimed loner, he too has deeply-rooted issues with family and the reason he exiled himself to Cleveland to live a low-key lifestyle. All was going well with the two working in close proximity and never speaking to one another, until a blizzard hits Cleveland leaving Courtney stranded and no one to call for help. Jeff is the only person around to offer her any help in her time of need, but their defiant personalities automatically clash. Is it possible that music, the one thing they have in common, will be what brings these two lonely souls together? Beautiful Music is strictly a romance novel about two beautiful people locked in their own tormented worlds, living a lonely existence.

This was a okay read. I just wish that the author was more consistent in her storytelling. The story was about a woman named Courtney who owned a beauty business, but her true desire was to be a singer. She took the safe road by taking over one of the family franchises. Her business neighbor is a former, introverted rockstar named Jeff Gold. He had been watching Courtney through the window of his store for two years, never approaching her, everyday for 2 years. They meet when Courtney enters his record store, but he is such a complete jerk that you wonder how the author was going to redeem him. Well, during a snowstorm that no one should have ever even gone in, Courtney and Jeff are both at their stores and a snowplow, plows Courtney's brand new SUV. Hence, Jeff comes to the rescue. :) He tries to redeem himself by being helpful and giving Courtney a ride home. They build a friendship before delving into the relationship arena. There were some inconsistencies in the book that cannot be overlooked. In the beginning of the book, Courtney was a daddy's girl. She called her parents for everything, but after Jeff called her a spoiled rich girl, you didn't have her parents involved at all until the end. Also, when she was describing her love for Jeff, Courtney used the line, "I think I have loved him every since I met him.", but she clearly thought that he was a jerk. (That's a quote.). Also, at the end of the story, they got married on the beach with family and friends which was cool, except for the fact that earlier in the story Courtney stated that she didn't want anyone else present except for her and the groom and Jeff totally disregarded what she wanted and invited everyone. There were too many inconsistencies that didn't reflect what the characters had previously said without giving any backdrop to the changes that were made in the story. Also, there was another man that came into the picture, but he was never fully allowed to fight for Courtney's affections. If an author is going to introduce a third person as a triangle, they should at least allow the reader a chance to either love or hate them without being obvious as far as why the heroine should choose the main hero.
The story was readable, but it could have been better. The plot was good on its own without trying to add too much extra stuff in it. They were both introverts, who had family issues that they had to deal with, but the author didn't fully explore that. The problems were glossed over too fast. I just wish that the author took her time with these characters.
The heat level is 2.5 out of 5. It is written, there isn't a lot, but it is written well for non erotica readers.

Ms. Lawson Brown has become one of my favorite authors in the BWWM genre. As with her other books, the mixed-race backdrop is handled well and blended into the story.
My favorite is "Caught in the Trap", but this one was a good read too.
This was such a really really great book, quite refreshing, In the beginning I was wondering, what am i reading ....but I loved it.....it was also nice to see that the disease was dealt with, because I was recently diagnosed with that same form of cancer,so I especially loved it....thank you ms Brown
Sorry to say but this story was amazingly boring. It had the potential to be a good story, however, without any real conflict, the story fell flat. The antagonist, which I'm assuming was Kevin, wasn't even memorable. He could have been left out the story and wouldn't have been missed. Also, I noticed some variation in verb tense that was confusing. Basically this story was about two lonely people getting together...Boring.
I enjoyed this book. Girl meets boy or man as he would put it and jerk is how she would put it & there is where all the fun begins . Add a bunch of family issues on both sides , her girlfriend Dee (liked her) & the real jerk Kevin UPS stud !!! So you have 2 people with different backgrounds & so much baggage from there family experiences that are broke down its fun watching them put their pieces back together !! Write a book about Dee!!!!
This was a really pleasant book to read. The two main characters were stubborn, funny, witty and engaging. I loved Jeff, the hero, because he was so self-deprecating but in a funny kind of way.
This is a story about two lonely people with "baggage" and issues coming together or finding each other and making the most of it. It was a really great read and a fabulous love story!
This one had a lot of potential but the wooden, stilted dialogue killed it. I liked the banter between Jeff and Courtney at first, and sometimes their personalities shined through...but then there would be boring, long exposition dumps that would just kill any sexual tension. And I didn't like that Jeff had to change his look completely before snobby Courtney would give him the time of day. I wanted Courtney to learn to move past her snob tendencies and learn to love rust-bucket driving, long-haired rocker Jeff. No such luck, and that kept this book at the superficial level as opposed to getting deeper. I like a bitchy heroine, but she has to have some redeeming qualities too! I also didn't think the cover was very eye-catching. I bought it based on the synopsis, otherwise I wouldn't have given it another look. Luckily it was only 1.99!
