I liked this book because in the style of Jules Verne, the writer speculated about what might happen should a second flood occur. Written over 100 years ago, the presentation of human nature under threat was imaginative and surprisingly modern. I've read most of Serviss' work and this in my opinion is his worst. It has a lot of amazing imagery and fascinating ideas, but in the end it feels rushed and overly clumsy with Serviss grasping desperately to try and make everything tie together in the end.

In The Second Deluge, filed with scenes of panic and disaster, the entire surface of the earth is submerged when the solar system enters a watery nebula, and only scientist-hero Cosmo Versal, and a small group of friends who believe in him survive by flying above the flood in a newly invented skyship.
